The State’s 20 Under 40 2018

For fifteen years, The State Newspaper has included an annual section that recognizes 20 people under the age of 40 who have made great contributions to their community. Among the 280 past honorees are legislators, business leaders, educators, and influential community servants. I was incredibly honored to receive the call that I would be a 2018 class recipient.

The event reception was extra special as it took place the evening before my 35th birthday. Additionally, each year they select two recipients to give remarks to the class and I was honored to be chosen as one of them. I left my fellow high achieving peers with one of my favorite poems to keep them motivated as they continue to work towards leaving our community a better place.

It was incredible sharing this special evening with family and friends who have supported and championed my efforts along the way. I’m thankful to have them in my corner as I work to navigate the roles of wife, mom, Entrepreneur, author, student and community servant. It’s definitely because of my village that I’m able to balance the various responsibilities. Having them present to receive the award makes it all worth it!

Just as we had after the last award reception a few months prior, my hubby and I extended the night with dessert at Nonnah’s. It’s always delicious and serves as the perfect location for an evening celebration.

Special thanks to the Columbia Chamber’s Leadership Columbia office and Wine & Design Corporate Office for helping me celebrate this accomplishment. Check out the Franchise blog post featuring the accolade.

Kudos to my fellow recipients and best wishes for their continued success.
