Quarantine Birthday Fun- 5 Ways I Celebrated with Family

Well, this birthday most certainly brought me a brand new experience and a lot to reflect upon. For the first time ever, I, along with the majority of the nation, are on quarantine in the face of a global pandemic due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. My family made it a great weekend of celebration and fun.

The top 5 things we did to celebrate amidst the limitations of the social distancing restrictions included the following activities:

The Big Mo– Drive-in Movie- we took the girls for our first family drive-in movie at a local theatre. We saw the movie Onward about two teenage brothers on a quest to spend one last day with their late dad. We packed snacks, saw friends, and safely enjoyed the movie from the trunk of our car.

Family Game Night- We had a blast with family game night playing Perfection, Memory Match, and completing puzzles. To add to the excitement, we had a friendly competition between the girls and dad. Of course, we WON! We had a little too much fun and ended up in the dentist’s office for an emergency visit. Read the last blog post for what happened.

In-Home Movie Nights- taking time to enjoy movies as a family was a welcomed break from staying updated on the Coronavirus via the national news outlets. We took breaks from current events and watched Storks, Frozen II, and some other great kid-friendly shows.

Family Dinner- One of my absolute favorite meals is spaghetti and my all-time favorite dessert is apple pie alamode. My hubby made both and even picked up the special treat of a strawberry milkshake. And boy, did I need it after that stressed-out encounter that required a dentist visit. It was absolutely delicious and made with love!

Rest- I took quite a few naps over the course of the weekend. Much needed rest for this busy working (and now) homeschooling momma of two!

Though it may not have been the birthday weekend I originally planned, it was definitely one I needed and is eternally grateful for. Time with these three is the best gift a girl could have. Cheers to turning the big 3-7 on tomorrow!

Until next time,

Xoxo
