If you love eating good food while learning, exploring, and celebrating the rich history or accomplishments of a particular culture, genre, or subject, then attending festivals is a great and inexpensive family activity. In particular, we encourage the celebration of diversity and seek to expose our girls to various backgrounds. Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop states:
In subscribing to this philosophy, we not only provide our children with a collection of multicultural books but also with activities that reflect the larger human experience.
This weekend, we attended our local Greek Festival for some delicious food and also enjoyed taking tours, reading the exhibits, dancing, and shopping.
Other festivals to look for in your area include but are not limited to:
Gullah Festival
Latin Festival
Jubilee Festival
DoCo Festival
Okra Strut Festival
Art and Music Festival
Reading Festival
Bluegrass Festival
Many many more!!
Most importantly, we enjoyed making memories together! Enjoy participating and attending local festivals in your area.
