The girls and I are off to our next adventure. This time, we are road tripping to Georgia. Travel time is about three and a half hours without stops. My girls are packed up and ready to go! Here are 5 things I did to make the ride a smooth one:
- Checked the car- safety is my first priority when traveling with precious cargo- the lives of my girls and myself. To prep the car, I filled the tank, checked the air level in the tires, and had a diagnostic service at the dealership. Ready to make the drive.
- Packed the essentials- believe it or not, I managed to pack everything we needed in one suitcase. Yes, all three of us for four days! Trying to figure out how I managed to do that? Don’t worry. Packing tips are coming soon in a separate post.
- Charged the devices- though I have car chargers, I make sure they are fully charged prior to getting on the road as well. That includes cell phones and iPad devices.
- Mommy and Kiddo entertainment for the drive- the ride can sometimes get restless for both the driver and the kiddos. For the girls, I packed their favorite songs, books, toys, an iPad with downloaded movies and earphones. For myself, I downloaded my favorite songs and podcast sessions that I wanted to listen to and catch up on.
- Meal prep- eating a filling meal makes the ride more comfortable. It also provides an opportunity for the kids to be lulled into sleep during the ride. Just in case they wake up and want a snack, prepare a lunch tote with their favorite drinks, cookies, chips, veggies, fruit, etc.
I timed this trip to take place during my girls’ nap time. These five tips allowed me to sing and dance with the girls, eat a good lunch, talk about what happened during the week, and enjoy quiet time with myself listening to music and podcast segments while they were napping. We had a very smooth drive without any stops and made it safely to our destination. By the looks of it, they enjoyed our road trip too. Looking forward to our next girls getaway.
Happy traveling! Xoxo
