“Mommy, it’s time to worship the Lord!” ~Alana
As we prepared for church service, our oldest baby girl reminded us that we were going to worship the Lord. That statement reminded me of the vow my husband and I took when we dedicated our children back to Christ. We vowed to nurture their God spirit and raise them with Him as the center of our marriage and lives. We have strived to do just that.
This morning in worship service, our pastor preached on the journey of being a Christian. He stated that it’s easy to become a Christian but it’s not easy to maintain a Christian lifestyle. He instructed us to do three things:
- Stay prayed up
- Stay in the word
- Stay close to Jesus
I believe these three things are also applicable in the parenthood journey as well.
- I pray at all times about the wellbeing of our children. I ask God to cover and protect them when they are with us and when they are apart. I also ask that He gives my husband and I wisdom and guidance in preparing them for the world and their futures and that we nurture them to be who He called them to be.
- This is one of my most challenging things for me to do. I don’t read my bible as often as I would like and strive to become more proficient in the word. To assist me, I often listen to gospel music, watch biblical programming, and incorporate the kid’s bible during bedtime reading with the girls. When I’m in my rhythm, I attend Bible study at church, read my devotional bible, and engage in discussion with others about the text.
- I seek Jesus in all of my decisions. I ask for Him to guide me to be the woman, wife, and mother He would have me to be.
Until next time,
